How to use
- Enter the mother’s date of birth.
- Choose “Conception date” if you know it (your ovulation date is a good estimate), or “Due date” to estimate conception as 266 days before it.
- You get the chart’s answer, the mother’s lunar age at conception and the lunar date of conception, plus all 12 months for that age.
How it works
The chart needs two numbers:
- The mother’s lunar age at conception = lunar year of conception − lunar year of birth + 1. Lunar years start at Lunar New Year (late January to mid-February), so birthdays and conception dates early in the year often belong to the previous lunar year.
- The lunar month of conception: the conception date converted to the Chinese calendar.
Dates are converted with the Hong Kong Observatory tables for 1901 to 2100 — the same data as our lunar calendar converter. The cell where the age and month meet is the prediction.
The chart itself was compared across three published versions (immihelp.com, k366.com and astrogle.com); where they disagree, the majority answer is used.
Example
| Mother born | Conceived | Lunar age and month | Chart says |
|---|---|---|---|
| June 15, 1995 | March 10, 2026 | Age 32, month 1 (Day 22) | Boy |
| March 2, 1998 | January 10, 2026 | Age 28, month 11 of lunar 2025 | Girl |
In the second row the mother is 27 in ordinary years, but 28 by lunar age, and January 10, 2026 is still in lunar year 2025 because Lunar New Year 2026 is on February 17.
